Web Tools Reflection...

Two NETS Standard tools students can learn from is Creativity and Innovation, and Research and Information Fluency. Games can support both of these NETS Standards because with Creativity students can learn something and apply that knowledge, and do a game activity online. It’s creative because most students love games so while doing a game they understand more about the topic. Research and Information, students can research different games to better understand the topic.
As a teacher, using web tools can better help organize the way I can make a topic more interesting. For example I can go to SuperKids and print out a worksheet on addition, and when I’m teaching my students I can give them the worksheets and do it as a class, so that all students understand how to add. Another example I can do is take them on a field trip. I can go online and see when I could take my students to the Louisiana Nature and Science Center, so my students can see up close animals, learn about where they live, and so on. The part of working with Web Tools that was most difficult was RubiStar. It’s a great site to use, but it’s also difficult because when I’m about to do my rubric you have 40 minutest to complete this task, and if not I will lose any data. It’s difficult because if I’m trying to make a rubric up I will probably have distractions, and that isn’t good because I will never finish the rubric.
